During our 3rd trimester, sixth graders will study algebra and statistics. Our algebra unit starts with a group of students who are planning a bike tour. Various real life problems are introduced so that students may use their algebra skills.
We begin by making tables and graphs of different kinds of data and discussing the pattern of change on these graphs. Then we progress to discussing independent and dependent variables and how the independent variable will effect the data and the pattern of change.

Statistics will include the study of mean, median, mode and range. We will also look at collecting data and displaying data in graphs.
